Blue Classes

Escuela Azul offers a free program for Cuban children through the Clases Azules.Because we believe that every child who grows up by the sea deserves to learn to swim, to respect the ocean and to feel safe in the water.Through four progressive levels we accompany each child from their first splashes to freediving and water rescue:

The Tadpoles

Program for children with or without experience in the aquatic environment.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To develop basic confidence, safety and autonomy in the aquatic environment through play and progressive exploration of depth.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Develop confidence and enjoyment in the water
  • Enter and exit the water independently
  • Complete immersion of airways
  • Retrieve an object from the bottom at 1M depth
  • Float on back without equipment (5–10s)
  • Float face down without equipment (5–10s)
  • Front and back movement with equipment
  • Front and back movement with equipment (5–8M)
  • Front and back movement without equipment (5–8M)
  • Aquatic breathing while moving
  • Surface movement with fins, mask and snorkel
  • Freediving movement with mask and fins
  • Self-rescue

The Turtles

Program for children with basic adaptation to the aquatic environment.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To learn basic technical fundamentals developing coordination, breathing and water safety in deep water.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Show confidence in the water
  • Enter the water in a dive from the edge
  • Retrieve an object without help at 1.50M
  • Swim 10–15 metres crawl with lateral breathing
  • Swim 10–15 metres backstroke arms and legs
  • Float autonomously and for extended periods
  • Self-rescue and rescue a companion with equipment
  • Surface movement with fins, mask and snorkel
  • Freediving movement with mask and fins

The Sharks

Program for children who move safely and independently in the aquatic environment.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To consolidate technique in basic strokes, introduction to breaststroke and butterfly, improve endurance, coordination and aquatic efficiency.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Enter the water in a dive
  • Swim 25–50 continuous metres Crawl / Backstroke
  • Basic breaststroke and butterfly
  • Perform basic turns
  • Maintain proper technique during sets
  • Float face down without equipment (5–10s)
  • Coordinate breathing and stroke efficiently
  • Swim 200M without stopping with mask, fins and snorkel
  • Move in freediving 10–15 metres with fins
  • Perform rescue with efficient techniques (with and without equipment)

The Dolphins

Program for children with great aquatic autonomy who can swim several strokes over 50 metres without pause.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To perfect technique and turns in all four strokes. Improve endurance, coordination, aquatic efficiency, effective rescue and freediving.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Enter the water in a dive from the lane
  • Swim 50–100 continuous metres Crawl / Backstroke
  • Swim breaststroke and butterfly effectively
  • Swim all 4 strokes combined 100M
  • Perform fluid turns
  • Float autonomously and for extended periods.
  • Maintain proper technique during sets
  • Coordinate breathing and stroke efficiently
  • Swim 400M without stopping with mask, fins and snorkel
  • Move in freediving 25M with fins
  • Perform rescue with efficient techniques and first aid

The program accepts children from 4 years old. Each group is adapted by age and level.

Andy and his team are certified water rescue instructors. Maximum ratio of 4 children per instructor.

Yes, 100% free for Cuban children from the local community. It is funded by the adult courses.
